The Minnesota Zoo has repurposed its former monorail track along with decking made out of recycled milk jugs to create The Treetop Trail. The new trail will bring visitors up to 32 feet above the ground immersed in nature.
Minnesota Zoo partnered with Art Force to organize a rotating art exhibit at the new Hanifl Nature Center. The Hanifl Nature Center is a central access point to The Treetop Trail.
Several Northeast artists have works in the art program, called Rooted in Nature: An exhibition of art inspired by trees. It features art from 38 artists all around Minnesota centered around the themes of Human Connections, Parts of a Tree, Trees through the Seasons, and Minnesota Trees.
The Northeast-connected artists involved are: Eric Cornett, Claudia Poser, Mary Welke, Richard Bonk, Anna Palmquist and Emily Donovan. Congratulations on being selected for the show!
The new trail and nature center opened on July 28, 2023. The artwork will be on display and available for purchase through December 31, 2023. More info on the trail and the full artist list here.
