Northeast Minneapolis Arts District has been voted Best Arts District by the USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice Travel Awards, the fourth award in eight years. The district won Best in 2015, earned second-place in 2021 then Best in 2022 and now 2023.

“Everywhere we went with posters and table tents, people were so supportive in helping defend the title,” reported our folks on the ground getting the word out and reminding people to vote. “With social media, all the contenders around the country could watch what the others were doing. Our secret is the sheer number of community and regional folks who were good-natured about voting daily, posting, and sharing.”

Saying “you know who you are,” the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District board of directors invites all who contributed, and those who want to learn more about the arts district, to a community potluck on Thursday, July 20, 4:30 p.m. til dark, at the California Building lawn (2205 California St. NE, between the tracks and the building off 22nd Avenue NE).

Traditionally, the arts district held an event called “Northeast Influential” on the summer solstice, which did not return after COVID 19. This thank-you to the community is a month-later nod to that tradition. It is potluck, so if possible bring something to share.

Partners attending should RSVP to Margo Ashmore at margo@margoashmore.com by Monday, July 17 if you’d like to be recognized in the formal program at 6:00. Otherwise just be there!
