Shhh! This should be the most widely known best kept secret…during Art-A-Whirl, in the basement of the Casket Arts Building, there will be a Speakeasy. That means all sorts of tempting cocktail options from 45th Parallel Distillery will be sold as a fundraiser for the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District.
Pause and take a load off your feet anytime Friday May 19 from 5-10 p.m., Saturday, May 20 noon-8 p.m. and Sunday, May 21, noon-5 p.m. The Speakeasy will be open same hours as Art-A-Whirl.
Past visitors, you know how this works. Your favorite Arts District and Northeaster newspaper celebrity volunteers will person the ticket table, and efficient bartenders from 45th Parallel and our partner Stray Dog will be on duty to keep the lines moving. Exciting news – Your purchases will help support transportation between buildings for the fall open studio crawl. Drinks include Midwest Gin & Tonic, Midwest Mule, Old Fashioned, Boozy Fruit Punch, and on Sunday in addition, Bloody Marys.

This happening started as away to attract attention to the art studios in the basement (still very important and interesting) and grew into a community tradition. See you there!
