The September e-newsletter is coming out a little early this month as one more reminder to get entries ready for the 2023 Northeast Calendar. They are due September 1. Jurors will be looking for a variety of art mediums, seasons, locations and points of view. Entries should be derived from Northeast scenes and bring a smile. Think “what would I want to see on my wall all month long?”
For 2022, four of the 13 monthly images chosen were not photographs. The cover was a hybrid of photographic images and oil paint. A similar percentage applied to the 2021 images.
Each person may submit up to five images accompanied by a brief description of the origin of each image. Here’s the link to the full submission rules and instructions . The cover pays out $400, and the monthly images $200 plus up to 25 copies reserved for each artist.
Illustration is Sonja Hutchinson’s “On a Roll,” the image chosen for September 2022 of the Northeast Calendar. The image was also chosen for the “Chroma” exhibit at the MSP International Airport. It’s a great example of a recognizable area of Northeast (one of the Monroe Street viaducts) that also shows all methods of transportation sharing the road.
