Many gallery show to attend by Northeast Minneapolis Arts District artists. Here are three we took note of.
Embracing the luminous reflections and cyclical transformations of rivers and lakes, Annie Hejny combines collected freshwater sand sediment with acrylic to share the stories of these places. From the Mississippi River to Lake Michigan, her relationship with water illuminates each canvas as an invitation for us to remember that we are bodies of water too. The exhibit is available in person through December 18, 2022 at the Department of Art History Gallery at the University of St. Thomas, 2115 Summit Avenue, St. Paul. New look for Rogue Buddha Gallery
Rogue Buddha Gallery, 357 13th Ave. NE, completed a brand refresh with new window decals and graphics, a sign above the door, new lighting and seasonal window vignettes. Lights and chandeliers inside illuminate the formerly terra cotta, now dark gray walls. Owner Nicholas Harper, in business since 1999, said he has been working with consultant Ken O’Brien to take some of his administrative and sales work and make the physical updates. The current show, Requiem, features Harper’s own art. It will be up through Jan. 1, 2023. New Year’s Eve festivities are planned in the PNA Building. The next show, yet to be named, will be up Jan.13. For more info, watch roguebuddha.com and see the Facebook page for more photos and credits for the window artists.
