A cornerstone of New York’s cultural landscape since its founding in 1994, The Armory Show brings the world’s leading international contemporary and modern art galleries to New York each year, and Northeast-based Dreamsong will be part of it.
They will be showing works by David Goldes and Alexa Horochowski in Dreamsong’s booth in the Presents Section (P34).
Also, Dreamsong’s presentation at NADA House, and performances September 8 and 9 at Armory Off-Site will be centered around Tamar Ettun’s monumental work The Sun, Moon, Star and Lilit (2023) which spans the entrance to NADA House. Referencing a Mesopotamian stela dedicated to the Goddess Nanaya, constructed with sails and silks hand-dyed by the artist with hibiscus and black bean, handmade crayons, olives, rope found on Governors Island and a variety of other materials, the work expands on Ettun’s multidisciplinary project dedicated to the aerial spirit demon Lilit, who was banished for pursuing independence. Tamar Ettun’s “Wave Caves” is the lead image for this article.
Dreamsong will be back in Minneapolis for the opening of Lurkers, Lee Noble’s second solo exhibition with the gallery; reception September 14, 6-8pm. The gallery is at 1237 4th St. NE, Minneapolis.
Dreamsong will also spearhead the second annual Twin Cities Art Week, September 27 – October 1. Public Functionary, TOA Presents, and Midway Contemporary Arts are also involved in Twin Cities Art Week. Check out tcartweek.org for all the venues across the cities.
