MacArthur Foundation award winner Dyani White Hawk (Casket Arts Building) recently joined forces with Mercury Mosaics (Thorp Building) to create a breathtaking mosaic installation at the Whitney Museum of American Arts  Studio Bar in New York City. Crafted with 40% recycled materials, the installation showcases thousands of custom tiles. White Hawk’s vision tells a narrative of connectivity between earth and sky, inspired by the rich tradition of Lakota abstraction in beadwork, painting, and quillwork. “Nourish” is White Hawk’s largest work to date, spanning more than 30 feet. It is her first work in ceramic tile and her first commission for a permanent installation in a museum. Located on the 8th floor of the Whitney Museum, visitors can enjoy iconic terraces and views while being immersed in the monumental mosaic.
