The Northeast Minneapolis Arts District seeks a program manager for our next visual arts exhibit at the Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport. Position begins early November 2021, the exhibit installs June 2022 and Deinstalls December 2022. Stipend $2,500. The Arts at MSP Program has approved the theme Chroma: A Spectrum of Beauty from the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District for an exhibit in the five large cases in the Thomson Reuters Gallery in Concourse C. Compensation: Stipend of $2500.00
- The Arts at MSP Program has approved this exhibit theme: Chroma: A Spectrum of Beauty from the
Northeast Minneapolis Arts District for the five large cases in the Thomson Reuters Gallery in
Concourse C. - Program Manager works under the direction of the NE-AD Board through their appointed liaison
- Written materials as well as proposed curators must be approved.
- Program Manager works directly with Program Webmaster and curators as well as coordinating
with Arts@MSP Exhibit Coordinator.
Responsibilities include:
- Write artist call
- Recruit artist applicants through personal email outreach to individuals and organizations, strategic
posting of flyers, as well as social media blasts - Update program written materials from current Airport exhibits as needed such as
a. Website Intro Page
b. Guidelines for Curators - Recruit local curators through personal outreach and interviews – at least ½ of curators to be BIPOC
- Encourage BIPOC curators to reach out to eligible BIPOC artists to submit
- Secure written bios from all curators, webmaster, you and NE-AD liaison
- Provide all artist submissions for vetting to Director of Arts@MSP, eliminate submissions from
consideration per said director - Oversee the curatorial process, including curators providing a layout of work for the exhibit space
- Offer install opportunity to all curators
- Communicate with all artists re artwork selected (or not)
- Coordinate with Arts@MSP Exhibit Coordinator re: # and size of pedestals needed and any special
installation requirements for artwork. - Design simple but appropriate graphics, something to do with the title, for in between the 5 exhibit
cases on in Concourse C. - Provide all didactics required including layout of panels describing curators and project personnel as
well as graphics for between the cases. Must be given to Arts@MSP Exhibit Coordinator in timely way
(Arts@MSP covers actual printing) - Oversee writing of promotional materials
- Proofread all written materials – both didactics and web page materials
- Ensure all selected artists receive contracts with airport
- Secure releases from all exhibiting artists re showing their work on NE-AD website.
- Arrange for transportation of artwork for exhibit to and from the airport
- Others as necessary
The program manager for the current Northeast Minneapolis Arts District MSP exhibits will support the
transition to the new program manager.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of visual arts and local visual arts community
- Highly organized and committed to deadlines
- Strong communication skills
- Project management experience
- Familiarity and ability to use Microsoft Word and Xcel
- Self-motivated and works well in a team
- Committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion
