Echoes of Nature – encaustic and photography October 1st – 31st at Roberts Gallery.

The culmination of the first year of the Women on Fire collective is a planned exhibition featuring 3 – 9 works by each member artist entitled Echoes of Nature.

The exhibition features a collection where creativity and nature intersect, capturing the textures, colors, and rhythms of expression. Through painting, wall sculpture and photography there is space for reflection, highlighting how natural elements and mindful observation shape the creative process.

The exhibition will be on view at The Roberts Gallery located in Homewood Studios from October 1 through October 31, 2026, with an artist’s reception on October 2, 2026, with light refreshments served and free to the public. The purpose of the exhibition is to generate interest in and awareness of encaustic painting among collectors, artists, and the art lovers.

This exhibition was generously supported by a grant from the International Encaustic Artists.

Participating artists: Jodi Reeb, Lynne Sarnoff-Christensen, Lori Fowler, Mary Pat Maracle, Linda Maylish, Sarajane Berge, Kathleen Kvern

True Stories: A Solo Exhibition by Grover Hogan , with Saturday, October 3rd — Sunday, November 15th at Public Functionary- Main gallery 144, Northrup King Building

Presenting colorful, bold mixed-media artifacts, paintings, and altars, True Stories is the first solo exhibition by American artist, educator, and oracle Grover Hogan. Since early 2025, Hogan has studied Tarot’s major arcana, dedicating around one month to embodying each sequential card. This Fool’s Journey has culminated in an interdisciplinary artistic practice of self-reflection and growth.

True Stories – A Solo Exhibition by Grover Hogan

Through emotional honesty, self-portraiture, and play, True Stories asks the audience to get vulnerable together; to take inspiration from the artist’s messy, weird, little life, and to learn and explore from the stories being told within each work.

Opening Reception with the Artist: Saturday, Oct 3rd – 6pm – 10pm

Artist Conversation: Thursday, October 15th, 6pm – Grover Hogan in conversation with Tricia Heuring

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Grover Hogan is an American interdisciplinary artist, educator, and oracle from Houston, TX, currently based in Minneapolis, MN. Their work combines education, esoteric archetypes, and mixed media alchemy in order to examine the collective American Shadow Self and detangle our psychic knots. Hogan’s artistic practice spans experimental drawing and painting, social practice, critical theory, ritual making, and ruminating. They are most known for their self-portraiture and confessional-style art.

Their work has been exhibited in Texas and Minnesota, including CLUES Gallery of St. Paul, Mardag Gallery at Franconia Sculpture Garden, Rondo Community Land Trust, and The Jung Center of Houston. Their art and writing have been featured in publications such as Teen Vogue, Houstonia Magazine, MN Women’s Press, and Burn Something Zine. As a muralist, they have worked with Forecast Public Art, Creatives after Curfew, The Bush Foundation, The Cedar Cultural Center, and Midtown Global Market, and their murals can be found throughout the Twin Cities.

Hogan was an artist-in-residence at PF Studios Incubator Program (‘23-’25) and has continued to remain a studio artist within PF since concluding their residency. In collaboration with Public Functionary, they were selected to be an artist-in-residence at Grand Marais Artist Colony (‘25). They received their BFA in Fine Arts with a minor in Teaching Art from Minneapolis College of Art and Design (’21), and they were baptized in a megachurch swimming pool (‘13).

They are currently a studio artist at Public Functionary and a 2025/26 Jerome Fellow.

New Exhibit by Expressionist Steven Carlyle Moore titled “Remote Viewing” Saturday, October 10th 12-6pm, Solar Arts Building

Vivid color. Restless lines. Brushstrokes that seem to move faster than memory itself. Familiar images emerge, then slip into something stranger and remote. At first glance, the exuberant compositions of Steven Carlyle Moore appear deceptively simple: bold, colorful, and immediately distinctive. Yet they resist easy classification. Look closer. Beneath their apparent simplicity lies keen observation and a subtle, incisive wit.

THE GARAGE GALLERY

J

urors, Brian Billedeau, Daphnae Koop, and Mike Madison and designer, Bryce Mason deliberated over 138 image submissions for only 14 placements in the printed calendar. They looked for vibrant, active, beautiful, and/or humorous art images in a diverse range of mediums, subjects, objects, landmarks, spontaneities, and symbols representing Northeast Minneapolis. It was a difficult decision, as there were so many top-notch images submitted.

You will start seeing the printed calendar around Northeast Minneapolis in November. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions about the project or are interested in being a juror for next year’s calendar.

Many thanks to those who submitted artwork as well as to the jurors for working through the tough decisions they had to make. Extra thanks to Bolger Printing for making this calendar possible.
