Another original passed away on December 31st. David Felker was a legend in Northeast arts lore. By all accounts he was the artist who came up with the idea of an art studio tour, what became Art-A-Whirl®. He pushed and got funding to make it happen. We intend to gather a full profile for next month's newsletter. In this newsletter, a tribute from Dougie Padilla to the person who was arguably the spark and inspiration for many that transformed Northeast from a place few thought to visit, to one of the most dynamic art communities in Minnesota history.
It is important to the Arts District to share our history. Without that knowledge and respect — if we don’t care about yesterday, we cannot expect the same for our contributions today. Few of us would be in Northeast without people like David Felker and Aldo Moroni who we lost this past year, and so many more. |
