Arts District News

September 1, 2023 - Issue 146

Dear reader,
The Northeast Minneapolis Arts District board of directors will be putting on its 4th Vision Awards ceremony. The Vision Awards recognize and elevate visionary thinkers, activists and people of action working in or for the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District ideals and mission both past and present.
Previous biennial awards ceremonies happened in 2015, 2017 and 2019, honoring three individuals or couples each year. Katherine Boyce’s article in this newsletter highlights some past winners' experiences and why the awards were meaningful to them. Due to the Pandemic we did not have a Vision Awards in 2021. This year we will be honoring six individuals for this award to make up for the missed year; Herman Milligan, Barbara Bridges, John Hock, Piotr Szyhalski, one other yet to be confirmed, and posthumously, Diane Loeffler.
The event will take place at the Ritz Theater on Monday October 2, starting at 6 p.m. More specific information will be provided as we get closer to the event.
Please invite your friends and family to attend this free event. There will be an after party at Rogue Buddha Gallery two doors down from the Ritz.
