Climate Change is such a large topic that brings about existential thinking about our human purpose. The Art District Newsletter has a goal to have a story about Climate Change every month in 2023. Focusing on how artists are thinking, coping, and creating artwork around this overwhelming subject. We hope to see how art can help us as readers understand how to digest this vast issue.

Rosy Simas wins $550k Doris Duke award

Rosy Simas is a transdisciplinary and dance artist who works primarily with movement of the body, image, objects and sound. Think: “installation in which performance happens.” Simas, an enrolled member of the Seneca Nation Heron clan, whose artistic career spans decades, recently received the Doris Duke award of $550,000. The Northeast Minneapolis Arts District (NE-AD) is officially designated as an Arts District by the City of Minneapolis. NE-AD’s Board of Directors was established in 2014 and merged December 30, 2020 with Northeast Community Development Corporation.
