The purpose of this exhibit is to display beautiful and engaging artwork created by Northeast Minneapolis Arts District (NE-AD) artists, for enjoyment by the traveling public as well as the staff at the Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport. That said, it will promote not only the artists included, but NE-AD as a well, one of whose goals is to maintain the district as affordable to artists.
The following are some guidelines to keep in mind as you choose the work:
- Represent the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District with work that is
- Beautiful
- Created with skill
- Engaging
- Fits its exhibit theme
- Appropriate for the all- ages/all-cultures audience of the MSP airport
(Arts@MSP, the art organization at the airport, will have the final word
in confirming finalists)
- Include artwork that is both 2D and 3D (no electronic work, or work that requires electricity)
- Include a variety of media including those that might be considered craft
- Include as many artists as you can without overcrowding the display space
- Keep in mind that you will be providing a schematic of the exhibit design based on dimensions/volume of work and how it all fits together. This will be used by the exhibit installers to achieve your curatorial vision
- Ideally you, as curators, will have more work you’d like to include than you have room for. Please use the demographic data to help choose from among the “finalists” to include artists who are diverse by culture/race, age, gender-orientation and length of time in district
