In early January 2026, the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent in Minneapolis prompted deep sorrow and outrage across the community. Artists in the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District turned that collective pain into visual statements, creating and displaying posters that act as both memorial and protest. These works don’t just announce events — they channel grief, demand accountability, and document how art can reflect and shape a city’s response to violence and injustice.

About the Artist: Rodrigo Oñate is a self-taught visual artist born in Querétaro, Mexico. He spent part of his career in Minneapolis, MN fine-tuning his craft and created murals on the Solar Arts building in Northeast Minneapolis, Morelia Súper Mercado on Lake St ., University Ave in Saint Paul and has created for local businesses around the Twin Cities.
His work is influenced by ‘80s pop culture, comic books, graffiti and Latino American culture.
