March brings a variety of open studio events across the Arts District. On March 8th, both the California Building and Casket Arts will host their Second Saturday events from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., offering visitors a chance to explore artists’ studios. Meanwhile, the Northrup King Building offers weekly Open Studio Saturdays throughout the month, perfect for a leisurely stroll through galleries and studios.
On March 6th, the Solar Arts Building will host a preview night of the “Mujeres Creadoras” exhibition, celebrating International Women’s Day. Head to the Q.arma Building on March 22nd for their Spring Open Studios and a potluck dinner party, or visit Holland Arts for their first open studio event of 2025, also on March 22nd. Additionally, don’t miss Emily Gray Koehler’s “Under the Canopy” exhibition at Confluence Gallery, running through March 23rd, showcasing stunning woodcuts inspired by the natural beauty of Midwest forests.
Confluence Gallery Presents Under the Canopy by Emily Gray Koehler
On view now through Sunday March 23rd. Interactive Artist Talk: Saturday, March 1, 2025, 1pm – 2pm. Under the Canopy is a collection of traditional woodcuts by printmaker Emily Gray Koehler investigating the flora, fauna, and fungi found in our Midwest forests. Join the artist as she looks up through pines at the Milky Way on a crisp winter night, steps softly into a golden wood enveloped in the scent of fallen leaves, dips her toes in a wooded river at dawn, and studies the delicate ephemeral beauty of a forest floor blanketed in spring flowers. Revel in the artist’s eye as she seeks to remind us of what we have yet could so easily lose.

Layl McDill “Call and Response”

Mixed media sculptor Layl McDill working out of the Flux Arts Building uses the sensation of stories to help make sense of the world. In sculptures crafted from found objects and polymer clay, she probes how art and science can intersect to learn more about human interactions with the environment to make positive change.
California Building presents Second Saturday
The California Building will host their March open studio event, on Saturday, March 8th from 11 a.m. – 4:00p.m. The event will feature many open studios throughout the 6 floor building. Food and drink will be available at Mojo Coffee Gallery.

Q.arma Building presents Spring Open Studios
Head over to the Q.arma Building on Saturday, March 22nd from 12-10pm for Open Studios & a Dinner Party. After Open Studios they are hosting a potluck Spring Table dinner party in Q.arma’s Courtyard. Bring a dish, snack, or desert if you feel like it.

Holland Arts presents Spring Open Studios
Holland Arts East and West will host their first Open Studio event of 2025 on Saturday, March 22nd from 10-3pm. Holland Arts is home to over 40 artists and makers as well as Yellowbird Coffee Bar’s second location in Holland Arts East. Bring your friends, grab a coffee, and explore all Holland Arts has to offer.
