The house at 168 13th Avenue NE that artist Frank Stone wrapped in metal will be available starting in May. The current owner is looking for an artist/retailer tenant who will use the building for combination live/work/sell.

Frank Stone and Lynn Olson (husband and wife) received the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District’s Vision Awards in 2019 for the vast effect they had on improving the community. Stone is a sculptor in metal and glass, using mostly salvaged materials. Olson, a retired judge, operated Language Central, but long before that, they opened one of Northeast’s first art galleries on 13th Avenue and Second Street at about the same time Art-A-Whirl® was gaining momentum. While the physical gallery has since closed, it has been revived online at https://www.frankstonegallery.com/

Frank, Lynn, and partners leveraged and strategically sold their real estate portfolio to stabilize other businesses over the years – Turbo Tim’s on Central Avenue, and businesses in their former buildings at Second Street and 13th Avenue, to name a few.

The building at 168 13th, now under the same ownership as their original gallery building, is next to Curiosity and across from Young Joni. It is in the heart of the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District near other popular stores, restaurants and the Ritz Theater. Busy street, is zoned C-1.
