Repurposed lumber, used without reshaping the boards, combine to form an oddly shaped panel containing its own emotional expressiveness. That notion of undeserved grace inspired both the title and the upswelling of sparkling glass in its celebratory shape.
K Daphnae Koop creates mixed media paintings on carved wood panels embellished with shattered glass inlay. Her work combine objects and techniques not traditionally used together. Honoring the beauty in the basest of materials, they are an attempt to elevate the ordinary and render the invisible visible. Koop’s work has been widely shown, and is included in both private and public collections.
