Minnesota’s arts leaders are calling for a unified, community-driven visual-artist archive to prevent decades of creative history from being lost forever.

The Minnesota State Arts Board (MSAB) has released its list of artists who received grants for the 2026 fiscal year under the Creative Support for Individuals grant category; A total of $2,084,165 was granted to 214 artists across Minnesota. 7 of those artists have ties to the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District, and were awarded a total of $88,975.

Northeast Minneapolis Arts District is fighting to preserve its 100-year-old brick streets — iconic paving that gives the neighborhood character, slows traffic, and anchors its historic identity — before a major city reconstruction project sweeps it away.

NE SCULPTURE | Gallery Factory debuts Vector/Sector, a new multi-site exhibition by Pete Driessen, on view through Dec 13. Edgar Arceneaux’s The Fall at Dreamsong (through Dec 20) and B. Ingrid Olson: A Masculine Thought at Midway Contemporary Art (through Feb 7, 2026). Dec 4, join the Art Walk info session with Josh Blanc and Seth Statmiller as they shape the future of public art in the district at NE SCULPTURE | Gallery Factory. And don’t miss this season’s Open Studios & Holiday Markets—California Building, Casket Arts, Flux Arts, Northrup King, and Thorp Building all opening their doors in early December. The Arts District is also hiring: graphic designer, calendar editor/writer, and PR lead.

Honoring a champion of our community, the 2025 Vision Award is presented posthumously to Kari Dziedzic, whose fierce advocacy, hometown roots, and unwavering spirit left an indelible mark on the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District.

The Vision Award honours the nationally acclaimed ceramicist-entrepreneur, Marko Fields, whose creations and community spirit have become integral to the fabric of the Arts District.

Honouring one of our most steadfast champions of artist-run space and fearless expression, the 2025 Vision Award is awarded to Nicholas Harper for his nearly three-decade devotion to the creative community in the Arts District.

Recognizing a visionary builder and community advocate, the 2025 Vision Award is presented to Jonathan Query for turning design, craft, and space-making into a thriving hub of creativity in the Arts District.
