Gwen Partin

This work is part of my Remnants series. It evolved out of my overflowing paper collection and the question of how to recycle prints and other art pieces into something new. I am a printmaker and sometimes prints have errors, but parts of those may be usable for collage. I keep everything. My mother is a quilt maker and I collaborated with her on designs. I love the process of piecing together the design, so when she lost her eyesight and could no longer make quilts, I took up the process in my own way by making paper collage quilts. I’m able to recycle many prints, interesting papers and other materials to be part of the ongoing remnants series.
